Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

When I read this verse, I stop and ask myself … ‘How is God my ever-present help? In what way is He my refuge and strength?’ I cannot see God … I have never heard God speak … How is He my refuge, strength, and help? The answer is found in His Word, the Bible. It is through the pages of the Scripture where we find our refuge, our strength, and ever-present help. Yet, for most of us, this refuge, strength, and ever-present help is on a dresser in our bedroom or on some electronic gadget. It is comforting when we face some challenge and find insight from Scripture.

How many times have you read a devotional book or listened to a sermon and that Scripture referenced spoke right to your need? Yet, if we carried God’s Word around in our memory … then we would have access to it all the time.
